When bladder leakage takes control of women’s lives, it is only natural that their self-confidence lessens with time. Life becomes more and more restricted, and enjoyment changes. It doesn't have to be that way. There is a solution for you.
Two out of three women suffer in silence from leakage of urine (Bladder Incontinence) when they cough, sneeze, laugh, or exercise.
In medical terms, this is referred to as Bladder Incontinence or “Stress Urine Incontinence (SUI)”, because abdominal stress on the pelvic organs causes the leakage. Leakage may include just a small drop or two of urine, or even a whole stream. Any amount is unwanted.
Not only can the loss in pelvic floor muscle tone result in SUI, but it can also contribute to symptoms of overactive bladder.
What does overactive bladder mean?
One might begin to receive the brain signals for “urgency to urinate”. This might occur with triggers like running water or temperature change when walking into a warm home from the cold environment. Making it to the bathroom, without leakage can be difficult. Having elements of both SUI/ Bladder Incontinence and overactive bladder is common.
Women slowly change their lifestyle to accommodate their bladder leakage problem. They stop doing what they love (exercise, walks, hikes, biking, golfing, tennis, gardening, simply standing up, etc.). Sexual function and relationships can also be negatively impacted
by SUI.
